Ways To Avoid Choosing A College Roommate

Unless you have a BFF from your hometown to spend your college days — and nights — with, it can be difficult to think about sharing space with someone you don’t know very well and choosing a college roommate. At The Standard in Boone, we’ve got you covered on that score. With a roommate matching service that takes your interests and personal preferences into account, we’ll help you find that compatible roommate who may very well become your new best friend, or we’ll help you find a larger group to share a 3 or 4-bedroom apartment. Your choice.

Of course, you could just sign up for a room in the dorm and take your chances. But we won’t recommend that!

Life at The Standard

Appalachian State students who choose to live at The Standard have a full complement of amenities to enhance their college living experience. We have a heated outdoor spas and entertainment complex that also features a an outdoor grill, fitness equipment and cardio studio, a resident lounge complete with big-screen television, shuffleboard and plenty of room to chill out, and a 24-7 study room for when you have to hit the books.

Choosing a College Roommate Made Easy

We know that choosing a college roommate can be almost as important a decision as declaring your major. So, at The Standard there are several options:1. Live alone. We have studio and one-bedroom apartments that are perfect if you’d rather not share. Just as larger apartments, they are fully furnished and decorated, have fully-equipment kitchens and laundry facilities, and give you the privacy you crave while also making it easy for you to socialize.2. Lease an apartment with a best friend, or a group of your choice. Each of you will sign a separate lease and pay your own rent. You just have to decide who will buy the groceries and what TV shows will be your favorites! You might want to work that out in advance.3. Take advantage of our roommate matching service to find a compatible roommate. We can’t guarantee you will be like peas in a pod, but we’ll ask the right questions so that choosing a college roommate shouldn’t be traumatic. Think of it as a kind of “dating service.” We want your relationship to flourish.
